Summer Favorite Cocktail Recipe : Watermelon Martini

One of our favorite summer cocktail recipes... The Watermelon Martini

¼ cup sugar
¼ cup kosher salt
6 oz fresh watermelon juice (I used a seedless watermelon so mixed it in my food processor and then strained it through a metal strainer).
2 & ½ oz good vodka
2 & ½ oz Limoncello or orange liqueur
1 oz fresh lime juice
Watermelon wedges for garnish

Chill 2-3 glasses in your fridge or freezer 10 minutes before making the cocktail.

Combine the sugar and salt and spread it on a flat bread plate. Dampen the rim of your glass with water or lime juice and dip it in the sugar/salt mixture. (Save the leftover mixture for another occasion).

Combine the watermelon juice, vodka, liqueur and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 6-8 times.

Strain and pour the mixture into the prepared glasses and garnish with a watermelon wedge.

"I'll Take Manhattan"
Summer in New York City!    There's no place like Manhattan for enjoying yourself this summer.    Pick up a Picnic Lunch from the Martinique Cafe, and enjoy the day at one of New York City's beautiful parks.  There is something for everyone at Central Park - Row a Boat, visit the Central Park Zoo, Catch a Shakespearean play, or visit Strawberry Fields.

March in New York City

March is a fickle month in the Big Apple. You can wake up to a beautiful balmy day  - or find the city streets covered in snow which makes you wonder!

Here are some ideas for any weather you may encounter during your stay.

* Maroon 5  headlines in the Garden March 5 and 6

* The Rockettes perform the NY Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall March 12 - May 3

* Cheer the St. Patrick's Day Parade - March 17

* Visit Macy's to see the Annual Flower Show Spectacular March 22 - April 4

* Ice-skating on Trump Rink in Central Park<http://www.wheretraveler.com/new-york-city/trump-rink> (formerly called Wollman Rink) feels a little bit like being in a movie. Maybe it's the romantic city skyline backdrop, the twinkling sky during a nighttime skate or the lush trees framing the rink.

* End the day with a luscious facial and massage at Elizabeth Arden the Spa offers services to Ladies and Gentlemen (open until 8 pm Mondaythru Friday).

The Radisson Martinique is getting "Frozen" for our Annual Children's Party

It's that time of year again and we are getting ready for our annual Children's Party this Saturday. For the past five years, the Radisson Martinique has hosted a party for children and their families living in homeless shelters across the five boroughs. This year's theme is FROZEN and it is sure to be a chillingly great time!

Construction of "Arendelle" has begun on the banquet level of the Martinique - complete with a frozen street fair and life size character stand-up figures.

Tomorrow's party will include games, Karaoke, arts & crafts, a sumptuous buffet, a live DJ and gifts for all children in attendance.

The annual "Dream, Believe, Achieve" party at the Martinique has proved to be quite a success in that it has given some of the older children living in City shelters the opportunity to intern at the hotel and assisted them in achieving their dreams of attending college.
